Head-on view of the 2027 2028 Volvo EX60 all-electric SUV

Volvo was kind enough to invite us out to take a first look at the all-new Volvo EX60. As we’ve come to expect from Volvo, it’s a phenomenal-looking car with a classy balance of elegance and aggressiveness. That sentiment reflects quite nicely in the car as a whole, too. It’s promised to be an outstanding blend of luxury refinement and staple comfort features, accompanied by blazing fast 0-60 and charging times alike. Without further ado, let’s dive into the EX60’s specs.

Up to 400+ Miles of Range and 670 Horsepower

As of now, the EX60 does not have any official EPA range estimates. Volvo says that its estimates are based on the same testing and metrics used by the EPA, and it will release official numbers down the road. Even on the low-end RWD P6 model, Volvo estimates a range of up to 310 miles. That’s nothing to scoff at. On the high end, though, the P12 AWD model is expected to see north of 400 miles of range on a full charge. Here’s a breakdown of the trim levels and their manufacturer-estimated performance figures:

ModelElectric Range (Up To)Max Horsepower0-60 Acceleration
P6 Electric (RWD)310 Miles369 Horsepower5.7 Seconds
P10 AWD Electric320 Miles503 Horsepower4.4 Seconds
P12 AWD Electric400 Miles670 Horsepower3.8 Seconds

The acceleration isn’t the only thing lightning-quick about the EV60, either. It’s the fastest-charging Volvo EV to date, and it uses the North American Charging System (NACS) standardized charging plug. With up to 400 kW charging available via the car’s 800-volt architecture, the 10-80% charging time estimates are extremely quick. Just 16 minutes for the P6 Electric and P10 AWD Electric trims. Impressively, Volvo estimates that the 117 kWh battery in the P12 AWD Electric trim will still take only 19 minutes to charge from 10% to 80% at 400 kW.

Luxury Touches for Passengers of All Ages, Front and Back

Volvo has been largely the only manufacturer to sell vehicles with built-in child booster seats. The EX60 takes that sentiment a bit further, becoming the first car to offer heated built-in child booster seats as an option. That’s a pretty wild detail, but the same level of attention is reflected throughout the rest of the cabin.

Ample space for passengers of any size, no matter where you’re riding in the vehicle, combined with high-quality materials and a carefully laid-out collection of buttons and interactables, allows proper driving focus without sacrificing ease of use from your basics like turn signals to navigation. Its blink-of-an-eye-fast Qualcomm Snapdragon processor ensures you get rapid, dependable responses from the displays.

Another standout feature is the panoramic sunroom, which uses electrochromic technology to let you “frost” the glass with a tap of a button. I was extremely excited about this feature on the Maserati MC20, and I’m just as excited about it here. It’s a phenomenal touch that lets passengers enjoy natural light without the harshness of a fully transparent sunroof.

Of course, the sound system is potent and refined, too. The Volvo EX60 comes standard with a 21-speaker Bose premium sound system. With 1,200 watts on tap, a subwoofer for deep bass, and 3D surround sound processing, even the base P6 Electric trim will satisfy even the most demanding automotive audiophile. That said, the optional 28-speaker Bowers & Wilkins Hi-Fi system brings it up yet another notch with 1,820 watts on tap and virtual room modes like Concert Hall or Downtown Club audio emulation.

Volvo EX60: Modern High-End EV Tech with Classic Volvo Excellence

Being a lifelong Volvo fan, I’m happy to admit I have a bit of unchecked bias toward the legendary Swedish manufacturer’s vehicles. That said, Volvo always manages to blow my expectations out of the water despite the bar in my head being set quite high. The EX60 is no exception, here. Overall, it’s shaping up to be a phenomenal car for those looking to step into a modern, quick-charging EV with substantial range without sacrificing safety, quality, or luxury.
